  Pitcairn and RMS Remuera

Remuera was a regular visitor to Pitcairn, seemingly being a preferred ship for dropping and collecting passengers there, and delivering cargo. Other regular NZSS Co vessels were Ruahine, Ruapehu, Rimutaka, Rangitane and Rotorua. Other lines called as well: Shaw Savill and Albion: - Akaroa, Tainui -  White Star, later Shaw Savill: Corinthic, Ionic, Athenic were all callers in the time Remuera called.

An HGK card. HGK was Henry Keyse. He was paid by the shipping company on a retainer basis to cut hair and sell souvenirs. It appears he was also a photographer and prepared postcards for sale to the passengers. See http://timetravelphotography.blogspot.com/ 16 December 2010 entry.

David.Ransom <printerspie@gmail.com> would like any other information on him.

The date on the photos is that of Remuera's first visit to Pitcairn, 24/10/1916.

The same date as the last card. These are the famous longboats that the islanders are so skilled at handling through the surf at their only landing place, Bounty Bay. Bounty Bay is where the Bounty of mutiny fame was burnt by the mutineers.
